Standing, the goddess Bastet wears a lion's head with encrusted eyes. In ancient Egyptians, observing the annual cycle of the Nile (alternating flood with drought), created the myth of the goddess.
Thus, the sun's eye, daughter of Re, had become angry and, transformed into a lioness, had fled to Nubia. They managed to appease her: the lioness of fire then took on the character of the cat-goddess, Bastet, feline and lovable (ie: it is the fertilizing flood).
Here she keeps her face like a lioness, the eyebrows in a circumflex accent giving her a fierce air.
The cartouche engraved in the name of Piankhi, the first known Sudanese statesman, dates the statuette of the XXV ° dynasty. He created, strengthening his hold on Upper Egypt around 730 BC,
